Welcome to the Marine Rescue NSW Port Kembla Unit
Our unit is a 100% volunteer organisation and is located at Port Kembla in the State’s Illawarra region. Marine Rescue Port Kembla is 1 of 46 strategically-located units on the NSW coastline and inland.
We are a group of over 80 dedicated volunteers who give up their time to provide marine search, rescue and communication services to the Illawarra boating community.
We provide 24/7 radio monitoring and Log On services from Hill 60 Search and Rescue Coordination Centre. Our crews operate on one of two vessels, Port Kembla 31 a 10 metre offshore Naiad berthed at Port Kembla and Port Kembla 20 a 6.8M Naiad vessel that operates on Lake Illawarra.
We always recommend you Log On with us via VHF Channel 16 or the free Marine Rescue NSW app every time you’re on the water. You can find more via this link: https://www.marinerescuensw.com.au/plan-log-on/.
